6:30 am Roanoke Bagel Co. "Dream Rides"

Starting Location: Roanoke Bagel Company
Starting Address: 2016 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018 – across from Oak Grove Elementary School
Meet: 6:15 AM
Ride Start 6:30 AM
Ride Duration: generally 70-90 minutes

Beginning August 18 & continuing every Thursday through October 21 the Roanoke Bagel Company will begin sponsoring the 3 Peaks & Adulare Roanoke Bagel Co. “Dream Rides”.

The “3 Peaks” loop, considered by many to be the best 20 mile road ride in the world, takes cyclists along a new stretch of the Roanoke River Greenway in Salem before ascending to the scenic summits of 12 O’clock Knob, Mt. Chesnut, and Sugar Loaf Mt..

The beautiful Adulare (flatter) route is about… the same length as the 3 Peaks route (19 vs 20 miles), but it is mostly flat, ascending only about 700ft (vs 2700ft of the 3 Peaks route).

Both the Adulare and 3 Peaks routes start at the Roanoke Bagel Company, and everyone rides together for the first 5 miles. Then, when the 3 Peaks riders turn left onto 12 O’Clock Knob Rd, the Adulare riders will continue on to enjoy Salem’s gorgeous Wildwood Rd. loop!

To make these premier rides even better, the Roanoke Bagel Company is sponsoring the group rides by opening early (6:15am) on Thursday mornings so participants can get pre-ride water, coffee, bagel, juice or a heavenly Blue Collar Joe’s donut … and when the ride is complete, a delicious selection of Roanoke Bagel Company breakfasts will await riders + special discounted pricing for ride participants!

Tremendous morning rides + sponsored by a locally owned bagel, coffee and breakfast company = the new Thursday morning Dream Rides

Ride will occur if temperature at the ride start is 40 degrees or above and it’s not precipitating.

Re-groups: Depending on who attends, re-groups may occur at various locations along both routes. Just in case you lose the group, be sure to bring a map & cue sheet :)

And, just get to the Roanoke Bagel Co. at 6:30am with your road bike! Don’t worry about bringing water, a pump, tools, patch kit or spare tube, etc. because this weekly BRBC group ride is now guided & co-sponsored by the Bike Sherpas Touring Co. and they’re taking care of all of that for FREE for the ride participants!

Ride Description: Let’s do this! February 20th is Hoodie-Hoo Day! It is a day where the citizens of the Northern Hemisphere are asked to go outside at high noon, wave their arms above their heads and shout “HOODIE-HOO!” to chase away winter and bring in spring which will only be one month away! YES, we actually do this before the ride! This year it falls on a Monday, so we’re celebrating a little early by riding on Saturday the 18th.

We will meet at Patrick Henry High School and ride the well-known Tuesday night ride route with one exception. The planned route includes the OLD road up Mill Mountain. Please arrive by 11:55! We will ride weather permitting and may deviate from the planned route depending on the road conditions. All updates will be posted on event page. Please ride safely and have fun! We look forward to seeing you there! Feel free to invite your cycling friends. Not familiar with the route?
